Create Your Own Ombre/Curly Stocking Cap Weave

A handmade stocking cap weave can last you a long time with some tender love and care, and can also be an easy way to change up your hairstyle to match your outfit. Just style it at night, and you’re ready to go the next morning!

Ever wondered how to create your own one? Here is how our hair specialist did it.

What You Will Need To Get Started: 
1. Duvessa Wet & Wavy Indian Curly // 10” + 12” + 12” + 14”  // Colors U4/27/30
2. Stocking Cap
3. Bonding Glue

Step 1: Wet & Wavy Hair Preparation

• Completely unravel the entire track from the cardboard, and neatly fold it into 4 folds.
• Pour a small amount of Rinse Conditioner in a basin of lukewarm water.  Immerse the hair in the water, and let it sit until the curls are fully activated. Do not stir.
• Squeeze the excess water and scrunch the curls, but do not brush. Lay it on a dry towel to air dry.

Step 2: Gluing Shortest Length (10”)

• Using the shortest length (10”) hair, measure the width of the first track you are going to glue at the nape.
• Attach the first track about 1” above the back cap line, following the natural swoop of the skull.
• Continue by measuring the width of the next track, apply glue, let the glue sit, and then attach the track close to previous one.  Continue going upwards until you have used all 10” length.

Step 3: Gluing Medium Length (12”) – Darker Shade

• Begin gluing the darker shade of the medium length (12”) hair, beginning about 1” above the previous track.
• Continue laying each track 1” from the previous track until you reach the temple area.
• For added volume around the sides, add 3” tracks to fill in the space.

Step 4: Gluing Medium Length (12”) – Lighter Shade

• Continue laying down the remaining tracks from the lighter shade of the medium length (12”) hair, keeping an evenly rounded top area.
• For added volume, fill in the space near the upper back of the head, with one or two additional tracks

Step 5: Create a Center part

• Using 5” tracks of the medium length (12”) hair, create a part by dividing the hair in half at the middle (As Shown), and glue it down at the front and center, close to the cap line.
• Repeat this 2-3 times, laying each 5” track very close to each other.

Step 6: Circling the Crown

• First, mark the position of the crown 3” above the front cap line.
• Then, continue gluing the remaining 12” and 14” hair towards the crown area, around in a circle.  Be sure to use all the remaining hair, and fill in any spaces.

Step 7:  Finishing the Crown

• Continue laying the tracks around in a circle until you are left with a small, pea-sized area.  Leave that small space open for the crown piece.

Step 8: Rolling Up Crown Piece

• To create the crown piece, take 1” of the track and apply a small amount of glue on both sides of the weft making sure the glue is on the track area only. Wait few seconds; roll up the piece so that it’s small enough to fit inside the pea-sized area at the crown.

Step 9: The Undetectable Crown Finish

• Apply glue on the base of the crown piece, and stick it inside the pea-sized area.
• Spread the hair in all directions, and press the center firmly
• Be sure not to use too much glue near the crown area, to keep it looking clean.
