BLOG Stylist Talk - Shaquanda

Why did you decide to become a hairstylist?
I never decided to become a hairstylist. I was born this way! 😉

Who is your style icon and why?
My style icon is Naomi Campbell. She has explored every hairstyle and fashion risks gracefully.

What is your favorite Outre product and why?
I have been using Outre products as long as I’ve been a hairstylist and that’s over 10 years. My favorite Outre product is Premium Yaki. I style a lot of women of color and it blends perfectly with our hair.

What was the biggest struggle you overcame?
The biggest struggle I overcame was believing in myself. I was my absolute worst critic. I would underestimate myself. I overcame it with a scripture in the Bible that says: “I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.” I believed it.

What advice do you have for aspiring stylists?
I would tell aspiring stylist to never stop learning and never stop perfecting your craft. Stay humble. Love what you do and do it for that reason alone and you will go far.
