How To: Install Crochet Braids

how to crochet braid

Crochet braiding is an installation method for bulk (or non-wefted) hair extensions using a crochet needle (aka latch hook needle) to pull the hair extensions through the hair, so that it can be securely attached it to the user’s own hair.  What we love most about this method is that it’s quick & easy to do, and we’re going to show you how today.

Read on to learn step-by-step how to install crochet braids…

Step 1: Cornrow your hair down.

Step 2: Insert crochet needle under the cornrow.  Attach a piece of braiding hair to the hook, and close the latch.

Step 3: Pull the crochet needle through, and hold the loop open.  Twist the loop once, and pull the two strands of braiding hair through the loop.

Step 4: Twist the loop, and pull the hair through again 1-2x for extra security.

Repeat Steps 1-4 along your braided down cornrows until you completely cover your head.  Afterwards, feel free to style your hair as you desire.

I wear this hair in the pick and drop braid style and find the best way I find to maintain the Peruvian bundle hair is to spritz with water then lightly work through some Pantene deep moisture soufflé followed by a touch of anti frizz creme just to finish it off. I find that after 2 weeks if shampooed and conditioned it will bring new life to the hair, and remove all of product build up that will occur with daily styling.
