NYC Street Style // Meet Brea Pipkins

Outre is out and about on the look out for the style mavens of NYC. This week we hit the streets of Chelsea on a hunt for bold and unique hairstyles and fashion.

Meet Brea

The big hair and the bold, funky colors of her outfit caught our eye. We loved how she mixed and matched colors and patterns together to pull together this unique look. From head to toe, this style maven expresses her individuality in a very thoughtful way.

What inspired your style today?

A: I got these pants when I was in Georgia over the summer. I didn’t know if I would like them because I didn’t know what to wear them with because they’re just so bright and baggy. But I knew I could put it together with something eventually. I put the pants on and I wanted to wear black with them and rolled them up so the black would show and I added a black onesie underneath.

What inspired your hairstyle?

A: I just love waking up and not being able to comb my hair because I don’t have time. Natural hair is so beautiful I love thick big naps.

How often do you change your hairstyle?

A: Almost every two weeks or whenever I get bored.

What do you usually wear?

A: Sometimes I go to Vogue magazines because there are so many cool hairstyles and outfits. I read them to see if I can re-create the look and pull it off.

Is there anyone that inspires your hairstyles?

A: Not really, but I really love Erykah Badu’s hairstyle and Lauryn Hill. I’m very into natural hairstyles. You’ll never catch me with long 20 inch Brazilian in my hair, not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I feel as though I get to express myself more when my hair is bigger.
